**Oshima Tsumugi Village**

Oshima Tsumugi is a traditional craft textile produced in Amami Oshima, which has a long history of 1300 years. It’s a hand-woven plain-woven silk cloth dyed in mud and with the bark of Techigi tree. Due to its hardwearing nature, it’s often said that up to three generations can wear the same kimono.
At Oshima Tsumugi village, you can watch the processes of how to produce the kimono, from dyeing to weaving, and a gift shop is available for small souvenirs.

**Kokuto shochu distillery**

Shochu is a Japanese distilled liquor and typically produced from rice, barley, and sweet potatoes in many areas of Japan. However, only distilleries in Amami islands are permitted to produce shochu from brown sugar and it’s called Kokuto(brown sugar) shochu.
Visit one of the local distilleries to watch the production line of Kokuto shochu and try some sips before heading back to your cruise ship or hotel!!

**Keihan(chicken soup & rice)**

Keihan is a typical Amamiian homemade dish and has a history of 400 years. It is made by pouring chicken broth over a bowl of rice topped with chicken, sliced fried egg, shiitake mushrooms, pickled papaya, etc.
Try Keihan for lunch to experience the island’s taste!!
